After a century of inactivity in the handgun market, Savage Arms returned in force with their Stance pistol chambered in 9mm Luger. It fits the bill for what one would expect from a polymer framed striker fired single-stack handgun intended for everyday carry.
The new Stance XR brings the platform to the micro compact with double-digit capacity and the latest refinements modern shooters are expecting on their carry handguns.
The Stance XR: The Micro Compact Fleshed Out
The Savage Stance XR uses Savage’s standard single-stack Stance pistol as a base to build a micro compact pistol to fit most shooters. The Stance XR is a modular design with a removeable fire control group that can be removed for both maintenance and changing grip frames. The polymer outer frame comes in your choice of either black, FDE, or gray. It features wrap-around grip stippling, a supported and stippled finger rest on both sides, and a full Picatinny rail for weapon light solutions.
The steel slide features lightning cuts in the slide that double as forward cocking serrations in addition to the standard rear serrations. The slide is finished with a black nitrite, which sets it apart from the stainless steel 3.2 inch barrel.
The Stance XR, unlike most first-generation micro compacts, comes from the factory fully ambidextrous including a double-sided magazine release and slide release. Even the optional manual thumb safety is lefty-friendly.
Available in different colors and the option of with or without a manual safety, the Stance XR also comes with a choice of sights and optics. All Stance XR come optics ready and use a quick-detach J-Point mount. You can choose either a set of XR tritium night sights or a standard three dot arrangement. In addition, the Stance is also available with higher profile irons and an included CTS-1500 red dot from Crimson Trace. Starting MSRP is $469, while the version with the included optic is $659.
