ONTARIO, California – Safariland announced today the recent sale of Safariland®/Kona 29er patrol bikes to replace a Los Angeles area law enforcement agency’s current fleet of patrol bikes. After much consideration and the opportunity to test the 29er bike, the agency selected the Safariland/Kona 29er as the most suitable patrol bike for their rigorous daily operational needs.
Exceeding the agency’s required bike performance standards, the Safariland/Kona 29er was the ideal fit with key features such as its 29-inch wheels for added stability, and a 30-speed drivetrain for quick-and-easy shifting. Its integrated rear rack design was a crucial feature for solving break issues on the agency’s previous fleet of bicycles with bolt-on-style racks. The 29er’s hydraulic disc brakes were also an essential requirement for allowing quick, safe and predictable stopping.
“We saw the opportunity to help an agency improve their current fleet of bikes and we educated them about the 29er’s impressive benefits for bike patrol officers,” said Sean Lackey, Brand Manager for Safariland Patrol Bikes. “The rugged features that we designed into our patrol bike offer a smooth and comfortable ride with relatively low maintenance.” Lackey added, “It’s great to be able to resolve this agency’s pre-existing issue with their previous fleet of bikes. Our 29er bike is currently used by police agencies across the United States with excellent user satisfaction and it makes us proud to know we can meet and exceed agency demand.”
