Team Safariland’s Julie Golob and Rob Leatham Triumph at the
2016 USPSA Single Stack and Revolver National Championships
ONTARIO, Calif. – Safariland® congratulates Team Safariland members Julie Golob and Rob Leatham for each winning multiple titles at the 2016 USPSA Revolver National Championships recently held in Barry, Ill.
Golob claimed both the 2016 USPSA Ladies Revolver National Champion and Classic Nationals Ladies Aggregate Champion titles. She placed 38th overall and first among the women at the Revolver Nationals with a score of 65.097 percent and 732.1532 match points. Golob previously competed in the USPSA Nationals in 2011 where she earned her first Revolver National Champion title. While she gained her first Classic Nationals Ladies Aggregate Championship this year, cumulatively, this is Golob’s 14th USPSA Ladies National Title.
“Claiming these titles is definitely a thrill,” said Golob. “This is only my second time shooting a revolver in a USPSA competition, ever. I focused on accuracy and a smooth performance, which was enhanced by fast, reliable Safariland gear to ultimately cinch the win. The Classic Aggregate? That was icing on the cake!”
Continuing Team Safariland’s winning tradition, Leatham won a handful of titles, including Revolver National Champion, Senior Revolver National Champion, Senior Single Stack National Champion, and Classic Nationals Aggregate Champion. His Revolver winning score totalled 1124.70 points to finish on top of all 85 contenders, and he placed 3rd overall, above 365 competitors in Single Stack with 1077.87 points. Leatham’s back-to-back wins have secured a combined 29 USPSA National Championship titles, and impressively, he has won the aggregate title each year since its inception in 2013.
“Confidence in my equipment is mandatory to achieve these levels of wins,” said Leatham. “That certainty allows me to focus on the shooting, because when the buzzer goes off, there is not a moment to think about anything else.”
Golob competed using the Safariland ELS system with a 5197 Holster and 771 magazine pouches for her S&W 1911, as well as the 002 Cup Challenge Holster with the USPSA Kit for the revolver division. Similarly, Leatham participated in the competition with the Safariland ELS system. His equipment included the 771 pouches with 5198 Holster and USPSA Kit, plus the 5188 Holster.
