On August 10, 2022, Corporal Arran Tyndall and Deputy Christian Yeaman were attempting to serve a Domestic Violence Protective Order at a residence in the Semora, NC community. As the deputies approached the residence, they came under heavy gunfire from the assailant who was armed with an AK-47. Deputy Yeaman was able to move behind a vehicle for cover and Cpl. Tyndall was moving towards a vehicle but was hit 3 times with 7.62X39 rounds in the shoulder and lower back. One round hit his Safarilandâ XT03 Level II armor and was stopped. Deputy Yeaman was able to get to Cpl. Tyndall and render aid until transport to the hospital could be arranged. The assailant surrendered after a long standoff and has been charged with multiple felonies.
Cpl. Tyndall was treated and released the same day as the shooting and has returned to full duty.
