On October 7, 2021 Deputy Tyler Post attempted to make a vehicle stop, but the individual fled and Deputy Post began to pursue. The suspect vehicle crashed and the driver fled on foot. Deputy Post gave chase and as he closed the distance, the suspect turned and fired 4 shots from a 9mm. Deputy Post was hit in the left forearm, once in the chest, and another round in the back. Thanks to his Safariland® XT03 level IIIA armor, the rounds that hit his torso were stopped. Deputy Post was able to apply a tourniquet to his arm and is expected to make a full recovery.
The assailant eventually surrendered after a standoff at an apartment and has been charged with multiple felonies.
We welcome Deputy Tyler Post, SAVE #2122, to The Safariland Group SAVES Club®.
