On August 16, 2016, Deputy Travis Dolly was transporting two prisoners to the regional jail when one of the prisoners in the backseat grabbed Deputy Dolly’s duty pistol and attempted to gain control of it. Though the prisoner was able to get the hood of the Safariland® Model 6360 ALS® Mid-Ride Holster down, he was unable to gain control of the weapon due to the additional retention capabilities of the Automatic Locking System built into the holster.
The Model 6360’s retention system gave Deputy Dolly enough time to get his cruiser under control and stop the prisoner. Deputy Dolly’s Safariland retention holster stopped the assailant from gaining access to the weapon, saving him from being shot and from a potential fatality.
