On June 12, 2025, Officer Langley Dean responded to a domestic assault where the suspect was going to be taken into custody for the assault. The suspect was barricaded in the bedroom and refusing to come out.
As Officer Dean made entry into the bedroom, the suspect immediately opened fire with a 20-gauge shotgun. Officer Dean was hit, and his Safariland® SX02 Level II armor, worn in a TAC Molle Carrier and equipped with an IMPAC™ HT Plate, stopped the hits to his torso.
Officer Dean was hit in the face, shoulder, and arm as well. He was rushed to the hospital for surgery, and a standoff ensued.
The assailant was eventually taken into custody and faces multiple felony charges. Officer Dean is undergoing physical therapy, is back to work in a limited capacity, and hopes to return to full duty soon.
