Officer Andy Anderson

Polk County Police Department Saves Club

On January 7, 2020, Officer Andy Anderson was investigating a burglary when he spotted the suspect who was still in possession of the stolen items. He began a foot pursuit that went behind the house and along a set of railroad tracks. As the officer chased the suspect, he was hit by a train traveling at 42 miles per hour and was thrown 50 feet as a result of the impact.

Officer Anderson was rushed to the hospital and it was discovered that he suffered a concussion and had 11 broken bones on the right side of his body. Officer Anderson is still recovering from the accident, and credits his Safariland® Summit™ SM02 level II armor with helping to save his life and reduce the severity of the injuries to his back and torso.

Officer Anderson returned to work in July and will be on light duty for some time.

We welcome Officer Andy Anderson as SAVE #2081 to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
