On December 28, 2022, Officer Brendon Gallagher responded to a disturbance call involving a person with mental illness. Upon arrival, Officer Gallagher was met with an attack from the subject who was wielding a sharp knife. The assailant stabbed Officer Gallagher in the chest. The knife penetrated his armor causing injury to Officer Gallagher’s chest area. Officer Gallagher was transported and treated at the hospital and has made a complete recovery. His Safariland SX02 Level II armor protected him from more severe injury.
