On Monday, February 2, 2026, at approximately 8:41 p.m., Dallas Police received a 9-1-1 call reporting a disturbance involving an armed individual at a residence. The caller reported that an 18-year-old was armed, refusing to put the weapon away, and had threatened to shoot his father and others inside the home. During the incident, Robinson locked himself inside a bathroom with his grandmother, who was attempting to prevent him from harming anyone.
Upon officers’ arrival, they were directed to the bathroom and advised that Robinson was inside and armed. Officers could hear an active disturbance coming from within the bathroom. Officers forced the bathroom door open, at which point Robinson confronted them while armed with a handgun and pointed the weapon in the officers’ direction.
An exchange of gunfire occurred as the officers retreated for cover. Robinson fired one .40 S&W round from a Glock 27 modified with a switch and equipped with an extended magazine. The round struck Senior Corporal McCollum’s Safariland® SX02 Level IIIA armor with an XCAL™ DTP1 plate in an Oregon City carrier and was stopped. The officers returned fire, striking Robinson.
Robinson’s grandmother, who was inside the bathroom during the encounter, sustained injuries during the gunfire. Officers immediately rendered emergency medical aid until Dallas Fire-Rescue arrived. Robinson was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. His grandmother was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was treated and released. Officer McCollum was also treated and released the same day and has since returned to full duty.
