On February 11, 2025, Officer Clayton Baker of the Philadelphia Police Department Highway Patrol attempted to stop a suspect wanted for weapons violations. As Officer Baker was pulling up to the suspect, who was a pedestrian, the suspect turned and opened fire with a 9mm handgun.
Officer Baker was hit multiple times, including on his chest and on his hand. His Safariland® FX02 level II armor, worn in an M2 carrier, stopped the round to his chest. Officers gave chase on foot as the assailant continued firing.
The assailant then turned the gun on himself, ending his own life. Officer Baker went through serious physical therapy for the round that hit his hand.
We welcome Officer Clayton Baker as Save #2271 to The Safariland Group Saves Club®.
