On December 15, 2020, Officer Daniel Vance was investigating a hit and run and stopped the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect immediately opened fire. Officer Vance was hit multiple times but was able to return fire as the suspect fled. Officer Vance was transported to the hospital where it was determined his Safariland® Summit® SM02 Level II armor had stopped the round that hit his torso. He was hit off the armor as well and is recovering from that wound and hopes to return to duty soon.
