On August 16, 2020, Officers from the Cedar Park Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, three officers entered the residence and were met with gunfire from the son of the resident. The Officers returned fire and moved outside to cover and establish a perimeter. Officer Jacqueline Quiles was hit in the left ribcage area during the initial gunfight. Her Safariland® XT03 IIIA stopped the round. A hostage standoff ensued, and after 16 hours the suspect finally surrendered. The suspect has been charged with multiple felonies and Officer Quiles has returned to full duty.
