On December 1, 2024, Officers from the Pearland Police Department responded to a call where a neighbor had noticed bullet holes in an adjacent apartment door. Officers noted that the bullet holes were coming from the inside. Sergeant Felix Williams IV took the lead with a Safariland® Hardwire® Double Shooters Cut Hard Coat Tactical Shield with Viewport and took the lead. Officer Robert Barbosa had the ram and was the designated breacher, with Officer Herbert Oubre and Officer Joshua Comer in the stack. Officer Comer knocked and announced, and a few seconds later, the assailant opened fire with a 12-gauge shotgun loaded with 2 ¾ 00 Buckshot. The Safariland® Hardwire® shield stopped the shot, and no officers were injured. A standoff ensued, and the suspect eventually surrendered and was taken into custody.
