On July 20th, 2025, Officer Tyler Howell, Officer Todd Nemastil and Officer Larry Jones of the CMHA Police Department were attempting to serve a felony arrest warrant. Upon being granted entry by the occupants of the residence, they moved upstairs where they encountered the suspect. The suspect opened fire with a 9mm. The GH SHB4 FC Level IIIA Ballistic Shield was hit six times, and Officer Nemastil was hit in the hand.
Officers returned fire wounding the assailant and they were able to take him into custody.
