Officer James VanAlstine

Acworth Police Department Acworth GA Saves Club

In the early morning of March 22, 2007 Officer VanAlstine was on routine patrol when he conducted a traffic stop in the City of Acworth. As Officer VanAlstine was conducting his investigation one of the occupants of the vehicle fled on foot. VanAlstine was pursuing the suspect when he turned and fired a 9mm semiautomatic handgun striking the Acworth Officer in the vest from less than three feet away. Officer VanAlstine was wearing his Second Chance® Monarch Summit IIIA vest at the time of the shooting. The bullet struck the “shock plate” portion of the vest and did not penetrate. VanAlstine was able to continue to fight and win relying on his instincts and training. Officer ValAlstine was then transported to the hospital where he was examined and released within two hours. ValAlstine sustained significant bruising but was able to recover well.

We welcome Officer James VanAlstine, SAVE #1000, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
