Security Guard John Thomas

St Louis Security St Louis MO Saves Club

Thomas, a 56-year-old security guard, started off his workday at a local loan company by being shot five times during a holdup. His legs took two of the five hits, while his Second Chance® vest stopped the rest. On examination of the vest at the Police Lab, one bullet, a .357 magnum, was retained in the vest just left of the middle of the chest. A .45 bullet was recovered from the back portion of the vest at the point of the right lung. Another .357 magnum bullet was found in the bottom of the evidence bag, which apparently had fallen from the vest as a result of being fired at an angle. Joe Brasser, who had interviewed Thomas after the incident wrote, “I don’t think luck had anything to do with it.” John thought enough of his life to keep his equipment, weapon, ammunition and bulletproof vest in good condition, and as a result, John Thomas got his “Second Chance.”
