During a response to a domestic disturbance, the responding officer was shot. SWAT was called out to respond. When SWAT made entry into the residence, the suspect fired at them striking the Intruder shield used by Officer Guthrie five times. The shield is credited with saving the lives of Office Guthrie and two other officers. Officer Guthrie would have sustained serious head injuries had he not had the Intruder Shield.
