Officer Gulanza (Jack) Pate responded to a domestic dispute with his partner. Arriving at the scene, they found a man drowning his wife in the bathtub. After a short struggle, the man was handcuffed. The woman, outweighing Pate by 50 pounds, grabbed a seven-inch knife and went for her husband. Pate stepped in the way and took two hard down strokes to hischest, luckily his Second Chance® vest stopped any penetration and resulted in only a ripped shirt.
