While in pursuit of a stolen vehicle, Officer Daniel Schmitt was involved in an accident with his patrol car. The car was totaled and Schmitt was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for leg, head and chest injuries. After looking over the x-rays, the emergency room doctor felt that the Second Chance® vest Schmitt was wearing saved him from any serious internal chest injuries.
