While answering a request for back-up, Deputy Ralph Greathouse was traveling eastbound when a vehicle traveling westbound turned in front of the officer. Greathouse hit the vehicle broadside suffering facial lacerations, a concussion and minor chest injuries. Doctors at the hospital were convinced that if he had not been wearing his Second Chance® vest, these would have been fatal injuries.
