Tracy Walden, a female rookie officer, was practicing defensive tactics with her training officer when she was accidentally shot in the chest. Thanks to the vest she was wearing, she was not seriously injured. Officer Walden’s vest was not replaced at the time of the incident. She continued wearing the shot vest for 5 years until it was replaced in 2000.
