Captain Peters was shot with a Winchester 12 gauge, 2 3/4 5 shot round. He was struck with approximately 250 pellets, 75 of which were recovered from his vest. He was hit with 27 pellets in his right hand, 5 in his left hand, 5 in his shoulder, 1 in his right forearm, and 50 in his neck and face. his service pistol was struck with 30 pellets.
