Trooper Grace’s vehicle was struck broadside in the driver’s side by a pick up truck. He received critical injuries which included trauma to his upper and lower spine, a broken hip, a chipped bone in his ankle and internal bleeding. His patrol car was totaled in the accident and he had to be cut out of his car. The impact was so severe that his radio that he was wearing on his left hip was bent and twisted. He was told that his vest likely saved his life.
