Officer Walton was hit on the head with a broken vodka bottle and then cut on his right arm, inner thigh and across his vest. The cut on his right arm required 29 stitches and the cut on his thigh required 50 stitches. The bottle cut through 4 panels of his vest in the heart area but this cut did no bodily damage.
