Sgt. Harris had his Second Chance® vest just one week when he was assigned to show a “first night” rookie cop the ropes. On patrol, they observed another vehicle hugging the center line at a high rate of speed. When they pulled the car over, a routine warrant check resulted in Harris learning the driver had two felony warrants out for him. When Harris attempted to make the arrest, the suspect pulled a lock-blade knife and stabbed Harris in the chest of his vest. Harris pulled his duty weapon and fired two shots, one of which wounded the suspect.
