Officer Briggs was conducting a pedestrian stop on a subject matching the descpription of a person who had fired a gun at an another individual. The subject suddenly pulled out a S&W 38 revolver from his pocket and shot Officer Briggs twice, striking him on the right side of his head and in the chest. The wound to his head saturated his vest with blood.
