Officer Bammer and three other Laguna Beach officers were dispatched to the scene of a reported robbery with medical assitance needed. The officers were attempting to locate the suspect when he suddenly appeared in a doorway armed with a .357 pistol and began firing. Officer Bammer was shot in the lower left torso area.
