Officer Wilson and his partner responded to a 1 a.m. call on a report of a man carrying a gun. When the officers arrived at the scene, Wilson approached the man for questioning, ordering him to drop the gun. Instead, the man began to pump off .357 slugs at the officers. Both officers returned fire killing the suspect before he hit the ground. Two of the .357 hollow points exploding from the assailant’s magnum hit Wilson; one in the chest and one in the upper right shoulder. The second bullet, in the right shoulder area, went completely through Wilson’s body, exiting through his back and bouncing off the back pad of his Second Chance® vest.
