Officer Gurnee’s police cruiser was rearended while he was sitting in the car completing paperwork for a traffic stop. He suffered injuries to his head, back, lower extremities and other minor injuries. He was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident due to the fact he was working a traffic stop. His chest and internal organs were protected from injury by the vest he was wearing.
