Officer Grogan was part of a team attempting to serve an arrest warrant. The suspect began firing and as Officer Grogan reached to pull a fellow officer out of the line of fire, he was struck twice in the chest. The other officer suffered frag wounds to his face after a bullet struck and shattered his radio microphone. Both officers were transported to the hospital where they were treated and released. Officer Grogan was inducted into the Dupont Kevlar Survivors’ Club as the 3,000th law enforcement officer saved by a protective vest.
