While responding to a domestic disturbance, Deputy Sallis was stabbed twice, once in the arm and once in the stomach. He and the suspect then got into a struggle. Deputy Sallis fell to the floor and struck his head knocking him unconsious. The suspect left the garage where this incident took place and went back into the house enabling another officer on the scene to get Deputy Sallis to safety. He was then airlifted to the hospital.
