Patrolman Kwiatkowski and his partner were responding to assist a police car from a suburb of Cleveland in pursuit if a possible robbery suspect. While they were setting up a road block to stop the suspect, another police car came through the intersection and struck Kwiatkowski’s car. The collision caused the other officers involved to suffer spinal injuries and broken ribs, however, Kwiatkowski sustained no injuries due to his Second Chance® vest. The attending doctor assumed Kwiatkowski had been the passenger due to the lack of injuries, and was convinced after learning otherwise, that it was the vest that saved him.
