The letter from Officer Young reads like a typical cops and robbers Hollywood chase scene. Dozens of shots were exchanged between Young, his fellow officers and the assailant during the early evening foot chase between parked cars and down side streets and alleys. The first shot fired, by the assailant, was a .45 spitting out an aluminum hollow point, grazing Young’s arm and striking him in the chest. The 5-year old Second Chance® vest Young was wearing stopped the slug. His assailant was less fortunate and was not able to stop the last three bullets fired from the Deputy’s handgun.
We welcome Officer Thomas Young, SAVE #169, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
