Officer Salerno was responding to a call for help from a home visitation nurse who was treating a woman when the woman’s son threatened her with a gun. Upon his arrival, Officer Salerno and 2 other officers were fired upon by the assailant and Officer Salerno was hit 2 times in the abdomen below his armor and once in the chest- doctors state the 3rd round would have been fatal had it not been for his Second Chance® Armor.
