On July 20, 2010 the Dane County Tactical Response Team received a call of a barricaded suspect with multiple weapons who was vowing not to go back to prison. Upon approach of the team of 7 operators in a “Stack” behind the shield, the suspect opened fire with a .45 ACP striking the shield multiple times. The shield defeated all the rounds and the officers returned fire. The department credits the PROTECH Intruder Shield with saving the lives of all 7 officers.
