On Sept. 2, 2011 Deputy Alan Whitlock made a traffic stop on a vehicle. The driver immediately exited the vehicle and opened fire with a .223 fire. Deputy Whitlock was shot through the windshield in the chest. His ABA® armor and PROTECH® IMPACTM HT Plate stopped the round. The suspect then fled. Deputy Whitlock attempted to pursue the suspect vehicle, however rounds from the .223 had disabled the patrol vehicle.
