In late fall, 1974, Officer Stephen Geiger was on a routine patrol when he was made aware that a mental patient had escaped from a local institution and was about a block from his location. When Geiger and two other officers approached the subject he ran and as they pursued him on foot, he attempted to slash and stab them with a pocketknife. After the subject was subdued and handcuffed, Geiger noticed two slashes to his uniform just below the left shirt pocket. Luckily, his Second Chance® vest, an early Christmas present, stopped the knife from penetrating to his skin.
We welcome Officer Steve Geiger, SAVE #18, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
