Officer Brian Groves encountered a suspect in the stairwell of a housing project, and while attempting to apprehend the individual the suspect turned and fired point blank into Officer Groves’ chest. The round hit directly over his heart but was stopped by his Second Chance® Summit IIIA vest. Officer Groves returned fire and chased the fleeing assailant but was unable to apprehend him.
