Officer Charles Wren

Memphis Police Department Memphis TN Saves Club

On July 2, 2012, officers were dispatched to a report of a man with a gun in a residence located in the 1100 block of Goodman in Memphis, TN.  When they arrived, they found that the suspect had moved from the residence to the nearby intersection of Baron and Getwell.  The suspect was armed with a shotgun and officers approached, giving numerous orders for the suspect to drop the weapon.  The assailant instead opened fire striking Officer Charles Wren with numerous shot pellets on his right side.  Officers returned fire wounding the assailant and were able to take him into custody.

Officer Wren was taken to the hospital where it was discovered that his ABA® BR01 armor had successfully stopped all the shotgun pellets that hit the right side of the vest in the torso area.  The officer was also hit by pellets in the leg and is recovering from those injuries.  The suspect has been charged with four counts of attempted murder.

We welcome Charles Wren, SAVE #1808, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
