On January 21, 2013 members of the Hickory Police Department Special Operations Team were executing a narcotics search warrant. The door was breached and a distraction device was deployed. As the team made entry the suspect opened fire at the officers. Officer Gordon Killian was hit in the chest from approximately eight feet away. His PROTECH® FAV MK II with MR01 IIIA ballistics stopped the round and allowed him to stay in the gun fight. The suspect was taken into custody at the scene and charged with four counts of assault with a deadly weapon on a government official. Officer Killian was treated and released with no injury from the incident.
We welcome Officer Gordon Killian SAVE #1835 to the Safariland® SAVES CLUB®.
