On January 21, 2013 Officer Robert Taylor of the Cleveland Division of Police was working a burglary detail when he spotted a suspicious male in the backyard of a home. Officer Taylor continued to investigate but did not see the suspect in the yard and heard sounds coming from inside the residence instead. He proceeded to further investigate and, upon entering the vacant property, Officer Taylor encountered a suspect who immediately pointed a revolver at him. Officer Taylor was able to knock the gun from the suspect’s hand and drew his service weapon to take the suspect into custody. The suspect then charged Officer Taylor and fought over the officer’s weapon. One round discharged from the service weapon inches away from Officer Taylor, striking him in his lower left side. The 9mm round was stopped by the officer’s Second Chance® SummitTM SM01 level IIIA armor. Officer Taylor was transported to the Metro Health Medical Center where he was treated and released.
We welcome Officer Robert Taylor, SAVE #1837, to The Safariland® Group SAVES CLUB®.
