On September 25, 2012 Officer Jennifer Williams of the Penn State University Police Department was on bicycle patrol when she was struck by a vehicle moving at 40 MPH. She was propelled over the hood, sending her head through the windshield be- fore throwing her approximately 20 feet onto the roadway. Officer Williams was airlifted by a Life Flight helicopter to the closest trauma center where she was diagnosed with a concussion, a cervical spine fracture and multiple lower extremity injuries and bruises. Officer Williams and the entire medical staff were amazed at the fact that she sustained no injuries to her chest or torso with such a severe collision. Doctors concluded that the officer’s Second Chance® SM01 level II armor protected her throughout the incident.
Officer Williams is returning to full duty and will do so with her new Second Chance SM01 vest which was replaced by The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
We welcome Officer Jennifer Williams, SAVE # 1838, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB. *Approved for internal communication only.
