Senior Officer Nelson Price

Anchorage Alaska Police Department Anchorage AK Saves Club

On February 1, 2013 Senior Patrol Officer Nelson Price was responding to a vehicle collision with injuries. While en route to the scene, Officer Price encountered a Ford Expedition traveling in the opposite direction whose driver lost control and crossed into the officer’s lane of traffic at a 90 degree angle. The vehicles collided, injuring Officer Price, and he was rushed by emergency personnel to the hospital. Officer Price was diagnosed with a broken right wrist, broken left elbow, and six broken ribs along with lacerations. The force of the collision drove the steer- ing wheel into the officer’s chest with such force that fluid collected around his heart forcing doctors to monitor him for more than eight hours.

In Officer Price’s letter to The Safariland Group he writes, “There is no doubt that my Second Chance® SummitTM (SM01) IIIA played an extraordinary role in protecting me from further signi cant internal trauma. My family and I would like to send our utmost appreciation to the Safariland Company, and their many dedicated employees for their service, hard work, and phenomenal product that helped to save not only my life, but the thousands of others saved in the line of duty.”
