On March 21, 2015, Orleans County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a vehicle accident. Upon arrival, the deputies realized that the vehicle was from a suspect involved in an earlier domestic disturbance call. As the deputies exited their vehicle, they began to take fire from the suspect.
Deputy James DeFilipps retrieved his patrol rifle and was moving for cover when he was confronted by the assailant who then shot him twice in the chest with a .45ACP caliber handgun
The two rounds to the chest were both stopped by the officer’s ABA® XT01 level II armor and Deputy DeFilipps was able to stay in the fight, return fire and end the threat.
We welcome Deputy James DeFilipps, SAVE #1912, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
