On May 20, 2015, Officer Jimmy Wilson of the Knoxville Police Department was at a hotel when he identified a vehicle that was carjacked by a suspect from an earlier shootout in the Miami-Dade area of Florida. Along with his back-up officers, Officer Wilson knocked on the hotel door which they believed to be occupied by the suspect. The suspect opened the door and shot Officer Wilson in the chest and retreated back into his room. The Special Operations team was called in and the suspect eventually surrendered.
Officer Wilson’s Second Chance® Monarch™ MR01 level II armor stopped the .380 round to his chest and he was taken to the emergency room where he was treated and released in just two hours.
The suspect in this case has been arrested more than 20 times and had shot at Florida police officers just the day before.
We welcome Officer Jimmy Wilson, SAVE #1920, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
