Officer Scott Burke

Beaverton Police Department Beaverton OR Saves Club

On July 7, 2015, officers from the Beaverton Police Department were dispatched to a mobile home park for a domestic violence call. Upon arrival, the officers observed the suspect at the front door of the residence as he was throwing objects at them. The suspect then moved inside the darkened mobile home and began to break out windows from within.

As Officer Scott Burke was set up on the inner perimeter behind a car (across the street directly opposite the suspect’s front door) the suspect fired a shotgun from inside the darkened residence. The pellets struck Officer Burke in the face, neck, chest, arm and leg. The suspect continued to shoot at the officers. They returned fire, fatally wounding the assailant.

Officer Burke was rushed to the hospital for treatment where they discovered that his ABA® XT02 level IIIA armor stopped multiple pellets to the chest area. He was treated for his off armor injuries and has since returned to full duty with the Beaverton Police Department.

We welcome Officer Scott Burke, SAVE #1922, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
