Officer – Classified Department – Classified SAVE #1940
On April 16, 2015, members of an elite tactical unit were called to the scene with a barricaded suspect who shot his daughter’s boyfriend and seriously wounded the first officer on scene who had approached the injured victim. After hours of failed negotiations, the team breached the residence and the suspect opened fire with a 12-gauge shotgun.
The Protech® Tactical NATO II™ Shield was hit and stopped the rounds fired at the team. One operator was returning fire and was wounded in his gun hand that was deployed in front of the shield.
The assailant was fatally wounded.
