On March 26, 2016, Lieutenant Andrew S. Harris and his partner responded to an incident where a suspect had just shot his roommate. As Lt. Harris and his partner approached the apartment, the suspect exited a vehicle nearby and immediately opened fire. Lt. Harris was hit in the chest with the first shot.
Lt. Harris and his partner began returning fire and the assailant was critically injured during the gunfight and taken into custody. Lt. Harris’ Safariland® Bronze Level II armor stopped the .40 S&W round to his chest and he was treated and released from the hospital. Lt. Harris has returned to full duty and the assailant is facing multiple felony charges.
