On October 21, 2015, Officer Michael D. Murphy was outside his patrol vehicle conducting a traffic stop. While standing at the driver’s door of the vehicle he had stopped, a Chevrolet Tahoe passed and the passenger side mirror struck Officer Murphy in the torso.
Officer Murphy was severely hit and suffered a cracked rib. Though injured, he pursued the vehicle and was able to catch up and stop the Tahoe. The driver was charged with a DWI, hit & run and possession of cocaine.
Medical personnel concluded that Officer Murphy’s ABA® FC01 level IIIA armor saved him from what would have been much more serious injuries.
We welcome Officer Michael Murphy, SAVE #1952, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
